Engaging with the community

Reaching out to music-deprived audiences.

The musicians of the Orchestre de Paris are keen to meet all kinds of audiences.
In schools, in hospitals, in close collaboration with various partners such as town halls, institutions for handicapped children or organisations in the social sector: music is for everyone at all times of moment in life.
Musicians who are passionate about sharing musical moments suitable for all audiences  participate fully in these activities

Music at the bedside

Music in the hospital environment

The musicians of the Orchestre de Paris regularly perform in various paediatric hospitals in Paris.
Trained and accompanied by the professionals of the association Musique & Santé, which works for the performance of live music in hospitals, they offer music at the bedside in the form of workshops or concerts.
Each season, the musicians make several visits to the Armand Trousseau and Robert Debré children’s hospitals to brighten up the daily lives of small patients with their tunes and help them discover, often for the first time, real musical instruments.

A sensory approach to music

Music and disability

The Orchestre de Paris and the association Musique & Santé work in close collaboration on the development of a musical project at the Institut d'Education Motrice at the Fondation de St Jean de Dieu in Paris.
Throughout the season, musicians regularly lead participatory workshops to prepare pupils  before coming to the concerts at the Philharmonie de Paris which they attend with their friends and also with their families.
Listening to the melodies and rhythms provides wonderful possibilities of expression through the active participation of the voice or through instrumental playing. These are precious tools for the teams who teach these young people as part of their regular pedagogical programmes.
The year is punctuated by a special end of project event at which the young people present their creations mixing music, text and visual arts and by a chamber music concert offered to the students and their families at the heart of the institution.

Concerts for everyone

Open dress rehearsals and evening concerts

Open dress rehearsals
Each season, the Orchestre de Paris offers organisations working in the social field (Petits Frères des pauvres, Nos quartiers ont du talent, etc.) the opportunity to discover what an orchestra is by attending the last working session of the musicians and conductor before the evening concert, in the Main concert hall of the Philharmonie.

Evening concerts
Free seats of a broad selection of the concert season are reserved for organisations in the social sector. An informative introduction prior to the concert is provided by the Education and Outreach  department with the aim of guiding an audience unfamiliar with classical music through a memorable evening.
