Singing together

An adventure full of excitement

The Orchestre de Paris and its choir moved into the Philharmonie de Paris in January 2015. This new residency prompted the music director Paavo Järvi and the choral director Lionel Sow to devise an ambitious new foward plan. Lionel Sow will undertake a comprehensive reorganization of the choir over the next few years to include the development of training programmes for the singers, closer cooperation with the City of Paris music schools, new working patterns, and the creation of a children’s choir and new groups within the main choir to foster greater diversity among the singers.
The increased emphasis on education and training will allow each singer to enhance his or her skills via individual and group singing lessons, musical training courses and chamber music workshops. Like a champion athlete, each choral singer will train rigorously to improve his or her performance during a concert.

In 2011, Lionel Sow took charge of the Choir of the Orchestre de Paris and in the same year was awarded the title of Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres.
